Foreign translators of Finnish literature in Turku

Burning Bridge Literary Agency organizes a translation workshop for foreign translators of Finnish literature in Turku 13th to 17th July 2011. Workshop is lead by an accomplished translator from the United States, Owen F. Witesman. Participants are from Germany, Sweden, Estonia, France and USA.

Theme of the workshop is Finnish science fiction and fantasy writing and comics. Participants will visit the Finncon-Animecon event, convention for aficionados of speculative fiction and Japanese popular culture held on 15th to 17th of July 2011 in Turku.

Saturday 16th July there is a conversation on Finnish science fiction and fantasy writing and comics abroad which is open for public as part of the Finncon program. Conversation is held at the Turku School of Economics at 1 PM. It is free of charge, as all of the Finncon-Animecon programs.

Workshop if arranged in cooperation with FILI – Finnish Literature Exchange and is supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Varsinais-Suomi Regional fund.
